About
Educators Exchanging Ideas about A.I.
AI is already in WNC classrooms. The Exchange exists so faculty, staff, and campus leaders don’t have to figure it out alone.
We’re part of the 2026 Brainhub work, with support from the Land of Sky Workforce Development Board. We bring people together at regional summits, share what we learn from the educator survey, and keep track of what’s working—and what still needs campus support. November 13 at Mars Hill University is the next gathering.
Campuses still matter for community and place. Online tools help with access. Neither replaces the other, and neither lets us off the hook for teaching students to think before they hand the work to a machine. Brain first, then AI.
Last January we asked educators across Western North Carolina how AI shows up in their classrooms, where policy hasn’t kept up, and what they need next. Their answers—and the conversations at the Land of Sky summits—became the Top 10 Issues.

2026 WNC Educator Survey
January 2026. Educators across Western North Carolina answered questions about AI in teaching and learning. Leigha Travis turned those writeups into the campus practice cards on the Schools page.
